Frequently Asked Questions
This page is "under construction". In the meantime, let
our pastor Paul know what questions YOU think ought to be answered in this space.
Also, if you have any questions--frequently asked or not!--that you'd like
Paul to respond to please send them in. If the questions have to do with
congregational policies, the Bible, theology, ethics, church history and polity, the history of
science (especially biology, Darwinism, physics, or cosmology), natural
theology, comic books, science fiction, Mars and Martians, or old dead
blues musicians you have a very good chance of getting an answer. Outside
those subjects, you might as well look up the answers yourself! Email Paul
at firstpilgrim@ispnet.ca.
How do I become a
member of First-Pilgrim?
There are several ways of becoming a member of First-Pilgrim. If you are
already a member of another congregation, it is a simple matter to
transfer your membership to our church. Please see Paul to discuss this.
If you are not currently a member of another congregation, or new to the
faith, you can become a member of First-Pilgrim (depending on your
individual circumstances) through Baptism, Confirmation, or Profession of
Faith. Again, please contact Paul to discuss such options.
Church membership entails various rights
and responsibilities, but is certainly not required if you wish to attend
worship, participate in our life and work, or continue seeking God and a
sense of meaning and purpose in your own life's journey.
How can I financially
support First-Pilgrim?
For those of you who are able to financially support our many ministries,
there are several ways to proceed. You may, for instance, make a special
one-time gift to the church as a whole, or to one of our specific
ministries, such as outreach or youth. Members and friends (adherents) are
encouraged to contribute regularly, either through weekly offering
envelopes or through monthly automatic debits from your bank account. This
latter option, Pre-Authorized Remittance (P.A.R.), is especially
convenient to you and helpful to the church. For more information on this,
you may print out this PDF information and
application form, or contact Paul Fayter or our treasurer, Paul
Feenstra.
