First Pilgrim is proud to be part of a unique ministry within the United Church. Our Outreach Minister, Rev. Bill not only heads up our outreach ministries but he is also an “Assertive Outreach Minister” for the City of Hamilton serving on one of their Outreach Teams. The City was deliberately looking for an ordained minister to add to their team. We “loan out” Bill for that purpose. While this is a full time position, Bill faithfully takes on the outreach leadership at First Pilgrim as well. He is particularly involved in our Tuesday Community Around the Table program where his expertise in mental health, poverty advocacy, housing and fetal alcohol syndrome are a great asset.

Rev. Bill can usually be found in the back of the church on a Sunday morning, providing hospitality for our early coffee hour and also making himself easily accessible to those who may need him. While he may not be front and centre, he is certainly an active and valued member of our ministry team. His kind, caring and compassionate nature is greatly appreciated.

Bill has a strong passion for social justice. He has a keen love of history. He is also a published author.
