Worship
at First-Pilgrim
First-Pilgrim meets for Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m. We're open to
experimentation, but our services are usually liturgical,
lectionary-based, and blend traditional and contemporary styles. We have a
very good choir of about a dozen or so members under the direction of
Christopher Hunt, a very fine musician and composer who teaches at Mohawk
College. Children and youth have an important place and role in our
services, and have served in many difference capacities, including drama,
ushering, layreading, and even preaching. We also encourage our young
people to share their musical gifts in worship, awarding regular bursaries
to support their lessons and development. We regularly invite guest
musicians to our services. We recently produced a successful Sunday
Afternoon Concert Series, featuring some of Canada’s best blues, roots,
and folk musicians. (We’ll do it again; proceeds support our varied
outreach ministries.) As pastor of
First-Pilgrim, Paul leads worship and preaches at other places, including
First Place, Macassa Lodge, and the Wesley Centre.
